Adnams

In 2002, Dave created the ‘Beer from the coast’ campaign at his previous agency Campbell Doyle Dye. When Adnams came to DHM in 2010 the company had evolved, they were no longer just a brewery. They now had a chain of shops, nearly a hundred pubs, a collection of hotels and a growing spirits business. With such a diverse range of businesses comes a diverse range of messages. Before we could start talking to the public, we needed the businesses to start talking and dressing alike. The question was how do we capture their unique personality?

This is how we put the new Adnams identity together:

Graphic Design

Adnams Copper House Distillery wanted to use its first birthday as a good moment to remind people of its spirits range. A series of offers had been thought up, it just needed an iconic idea to hold them all together. Sales of spirits increased 900% that birthday weekend.

Window Design

We felt the idea of a range of beers from Britain’s Brewery of the Year would be differentiating in store, so we used the packaging like a billboard.

After years trying to be like those big wine clubs we fessed up – we’re small and proud of it. Then we put over an argument why small is best. Membership increased by 15% in the first week. Honesty is always the best policy.
